I first purchased a Gath for surfing after a close call with my surfboard years ago. I could wear a Gath inside the impact zone without distraction. I immediately began to use the Gath helmet for my rescue boat courses. Soon afterward I noticed the LA County Swiftwater Rescue Team wearing them, and from there a chain reaction began, agencies realized the advantages of Gath headgear.

Gath Headgear comes in various styles. We prefer the high visibility rescue colors of yellow and red as opposed to white. For our K38 Maritime security military courses, we use black and with helicopters, wind spray or glare, the retractable visors are a must.

The polycarbonate visor of the Gath Retractable Visor offers the best technology currently available for helmet manufacturing in today's market. The Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency tested the visor and gave it a UPF rating of 50+ placing it in the UPF Excellent protection category.

Such a high level of sun protection is essential in helping to prevent skin cancers and sun induced pterigiums (filmy growths across the eye). Eye problems and sun damage to the skin, particularly the face, are major concerns when spending long hours on or in the water.

Personal Watercraft have become a popular choice for public safety agencies as a utility vessel for various dynamic water conditions over the past decade. With the use of a LIFESLED, their practical ability to extricate victims dramatically increases!

Personal Watercraft are small vessels which can work well in confined spaces, surf zones, congested waterways for either rescue, patrols or on-water security, using a rescue board adds another dimension of safety to your operational needs. The LIFESLED product is used in K38 Water Safety training courses around the world, as well as big wave surfing contests, tow surfing and for military safety training programs.

Thousands of our students have used LIFESLED in classes from swiftwater, open water, inside the impact zone in the surf and various other conditions. These rescue boards are a product we rely heavily upon in our courses for a training aid. Hydroturf

Hydroturf manufacturers replacement traction pads or custom traction with superior traction grooves and excellent durability. Many top professional PWC athletes choose them for amateur and professional events, as well as recreational or occupational users looking to upgrade or replace their existing traction mats.

These pads are a great asset for additional 'glue-in foot' support in rough water action. We use their pads for tow-ins in very large surf, and they are ideal for swiftwater and or surfline rescue boats. There are smaller 'blocks' you can add for additional 'toe grips'. I have seen where people in the surfing community use footstraps from the windsurfing companies which is a high liability because you never want foot or hand entrapment, that can lead to a very serious liability such as serious injury or death. Once you use these blocks, you won't want to get underway without them. They do not alter any manufacturer warranties or PWIA Law Loan Program requirements, which state no alterations to the hulls.

I prefer the smaller blocks such as what the professional freestylists use, as well as modifying the hull with cut outs. You only want to use these if you own your PWC, I do not recommend cut outs for the PWIA Law Loan Program vessels. However, they are excellent for use in other situations!
